Archives for January 2016
I recently got this miniature palette by Benefit and it is my definite go-to palette at the moment. I am a big fan of neutral eye colours anyway but these are to die for. I often find that only having a small selection to choose from in one palette means that I really use them to their maximum and combine shades which normally I wouldn’t.
The palette is a cute little book style with four powder shadows in the following shades:
Call my buff, Kiss me I’m tipsy, It’s Complicated and Guilt-y Pleasure
The palette also includes two creaseless cream shades which are my favourite out of the whole collection. They are so bold and metallic-like and look fabulous as a base colour or in fact alone with lots of mascara.
A couple of other features of the palette is the little ‘Tips & Tricks’ section showing a little guide to create a Daytime and Night time look with the shades and of course…a Mirror!
Recently I have added a new Shampoo to my collection of hair products, Neal and Wolf HARMONY Intensive Care Shampoo, it is one of the newest products to the Neal and Wolf Range and I have used it non stop for the past few weeks!
I have used various products in the Neal and Wolf Range for a while now and although I have always been a lover of the already existing HARMONY Intensive Care Treatment, I was never really keen on their Shampoos…Until Now!
The HARMONY collection is, as it suggests, an Intensive Care Range making it more suitable for those with hair that needs a little more TLC whether it be Dry and Brittle from Colour, UV and Environmental damage or whether you think your hair just needs a little treat!
When washing my hair I have used the Harmony Shampoo then rinsed and repeated and then added the Treatment and left for a couple of minutes. The transformation of my hair is instant and I cannot believe how silky smooth it is! Usually with a product such as this I would find that my hair would get greasy quickly and often need washing and re-styling the following day, however I can easily get 2-3 days out of my hair before I wash it again.
Not only do I LOVE these products, I also love the packaging. So simple yet SO sophisticated, around my shower the products look so expensive. Which leads me on to my next point being that they are so reasonably priced! The Harmony Shampoo is a 250ml bottle which costs £14.50 and the Treatment is slightly smaller ar 200ml (as you don’t need as much) and is £13.50. If you are using this and not having to wash your hair as much then this is a Bargain! Definitely will be using it again!
As mentioned in my previous blog post, for Christmas I received a JawBone UP 3. It sounds so silly but my life now revolves around this little bracelet on my right wrist! I LOVE IT! I got mine in the ‘Sand Twist’ colour which makes it look more like a bracelet and also blends into my wrist better than black would (Due to my pale complexion.)
Activity Tracking is amazing! If I go for a walk, run or go to my PT session, the UP knows exactly what I’ve done and how long for! – I’m glad someone knows!
Steps – So you’re expected to do 10,000 steps a day and I don’t know if it’s just me but it is really hard to do! I walk the dogs in a morning, walk around at work and sometimes go for a short walk after work and still don’t manage to reach 10,000 steps! It has definitely encouraged me to walk more often when I would usually take the car, my steps do increase each day so hopefully when the mornings and evenings are lighter I will go further.
Calories Burned – I am not sure how accurate this is but the Jawbone manages to kind of guess how many calories are burned from each activity, whether it be a walk or a work out. I guess this will be from the heart rate etc.
Food Logging – I have to admit I haven’t got in to the Food Logging yet. It is probably just me being lazy, but a home cooked meal takes ages to add on individually! I have been finding the Water Logging very good though!
Sleep Tracking – The Sleep Tracking ability on the Jawbone absolutely blows my mind! It is so interesting to see how well you have slept and for what period of time you are in a deep sleep and a light sleep etc. It also has Automatic Sleep Detection, I can’t understand how a bracelet knows the difference between falling asleep and just being inactive but it does!
Goal Setting – This setting allows you to set your long term goal i.e Lose X amount of pounds by X Date. The Jawbone helps you achieve this goal. I have got mine set up but when I haven’t been logging my food properly it is highly likely not accurate.
Idle Alert – You can set the Jawbone to vibrate on your wrist if you have been inactive for a certain length of time. With working in an office I am often sat down for long periods of time, I now have the Idle Alert set to go off after I have been inactive for 30 minutes. It definitely encourages me to have a little walk around, even if it is only to make a brew!
Heart Health Monitoring – Finally, if all that wasn’t enough! The Jawbone also monitors your heart rate! I feel I do need to do a little more research on what my HR should be and then I can compare it with what it actually is to ensure I maintain a healthy heart rate, or as near as possible!
Other additional features of the Jawbone UP 3 are, an LED indicator which informs you of Notification and Status, leader boards so you can see how well your friends are doing and also ‘Duels’ so you can pair two bands to one app.
Initially I thought I may be a little late posting about New Years’ Resolutions, but then I thought…Hang on a minute, New Year Resolutions are SUPPOSED to last the whole year so I am definitely not too late.
I know people usually have the same resolutions every year…’Stop eating Chocolate, Lose Weight, Stop Smoking etc. etc. etc.’ and also usually have forgotten about them by the beginning of February. In my opinion, if you aren’t going to stick to it, or at least try, then don’t bother making one!
This year I have taken a slightly different approach to Resolutions. I have decided to be more specific rather than ‘Be More Healthy’ I have set smaller goals to overall improve my health. Here they are:
Drink at least 2 litres of water a day
This is something I really used to struggle with and if I’m being honest, I have no idea how it is working for me now! Before I used to buy a 2 litre bottle of water and sit with it on my desk at work, the size of the bottle just over faced me. I also tried drinking 8 glasses of water a day which seemed even harder! Trying to remember how many I had drunk and trying to keep the same size glass etc. Now, I take a litre bottle of Volvic Water EVERYWHERE with me and constantly drink from it, once it’s empty I simply refill. It seems so much easier than ever before but it really helps that the litre bottle does not look like a litre at all!
Be More Active
While this is always on people’s resolution list (myself included) I feel like I really am going to up my game on the fitness front and in fact already have. For Christmas I received a ‘Jawbone UP 3’ a wristband which monitors your heart rate, sleep rate, steps taken, exercise, calories burned/eaten etc. I wear it every day and am completely obsessed by it! If I haven’t done 10,000 steps a day I feel bad! It has definitely encouraged me to walk more as opposed to using my car and my dogs are loving it! I am also going to the gym more. I go to a yoga class twice a week and am trying to fit in 4 gym sessions a week which may not seem a lot to most but it is definitely a step in the right direction!
It’s the beginning of the year and I already have so much planned for 2016! In some aspects my dreams may be a little too big to fit everything in to one year but I am certainly going to try! A friend’s wedding in Cyprus, Hen Parties, Festivals just to name a few. I am definitely going to try and avoid spending money on the things I don’t really need to spend money on, so that the things I really want to do this year are totally achievable. Although not this year, in the near future I really want to put myself on the property ladder and buy my own house and I really hope I manage to reach my saving goal for a mortgage!
Eat out Less!
This to some people is a strange one but my boyfriend thinks I eat out far too much (and he’s right) sometimes I’m eating out once a week which to be honest isn’t going to help my Saving Money resolution or contributing to a healthier lifestyle. I am sure he will be happy to see this one!
I think my resolutions are definitely achievable and I really hope I will stick to them! Maybe I will keep you updated and revisit this post half way through the year!
For Christmas, one of my presents was this amazing Raw Chocolate Making Kit. The little chocolate pieces make for the perfect healthy snack bursting with brazil nuts and goji berries.
