I have been asked a few times now what made me decide to choose ‘Rubie Tuesday’ as a blog name and what it means to me, as obviously my name isn’t Rubie! So I decided I would write a quick blog post to explain it all for you 🙂
So, for those who don’t know ‘Ruby Tuesday’ is in fact a well known song which was written by The Rolling Stones, an English Rock band in 1967. Now this is not the reason I decided to name the my blog after the song. The main reason is…
My little Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Ruby! Ruby is my little Puppy, who isn’t actually a puppy anymore, she’s 2! Ruby entered my life when she was 6 months old, I saw her on a Dog Rescue Charity and fell in love with her straight away, I begged and begged my mum to let me go visit her with the intentions of bringing her home and after a lot of nagging my mum caved in! When Ruby came home she was actually named Poppy which we soon had to change due to the fact that our other dog was already named Poppy! I felt that Ruby was the perfect alternative as it sounded similar and the name suited her fiery red fur!
When you have a puppy in the house it is very easy to get sick of two things – 1. The sound of your own voice and 2. The name of your puppy as you’re constantly saying it! In moments of complete insanity I found myself singing ‘RubyRubyRuby’ by the Kaiser Chiefs and also ‘Ruby Tuesday’ by The Rolling Stones. Ruby Tuesday kind of stuck and when I came to start up my blog I didn’t want to use my name so thought ‘RubyTuesday’ was perfect. Unfortunately the domain had already been taken so I went for a slightly different spelling… RubieTuesday.com was born 🙂
